New pool service? Here’s what you need to know.
We understand that in hiring a new pool service, you want to relieve yourself of all the duties for your pool.
Of course we’d love for that the be the reality, but unfortunately things like older equipment, unreliable pumps, crumbling plaster, and large amounts of foliage can (and will) hinder your dream of never having to touch your pool again.
Although these things are true, they aren’t a sentence, and there are small, basic ways that you can help your pool service be incredibly effective and keep that summer smile on your face. Let’s jump in.
First things first - keeping a healthy water level.
If your pool has a low water level, it will cause your skimmers to suck air, and render the pump useless until the water is back up to its ideal range (on the middle of the tile-line). If you’re having major issues with your water level dropping, you likely have a leak and need a leak detection (we can help you with that), or simply have high evaporation and need to install an autofill (we can help you with that, too).
Second - empty your baskets.
This can be your pump basket, skimmer basket, Polaris bag, etc. These will have benefits such as:
Keeping smooth water flow
Preventing the pump from overworking
Removing unnecessary organic debris from “steeping” in the pool
And more
Lastly - keep a general eye on things.
If you’re diligent about keeping an eye on your pool, even 5 minutes a day can make a world of a difference, not only by keeping your service more effective but also by helping you have a better understanding of what’s going on.
If you can do these things, your pool will look consistently better and run smoother. If this isn’t a priority, that’s fine! We completely understand why you may be too busy to do it - just know that your pool won’t look as great as it might (and some problems can occur).
